asics GEL-Trail Attack® 5 WR review

asics GEL-Trail Attack® 5 WR
Size: 10.5
Miles to date: 800miles (approx)*
(I used these on 3 of my first 50milers and 2 road 50k and 60k races)
Trail/road miles 60% / 40%

(paired with my Dirty Girl Gaiters)

These sneakers are by far one of my all time favorite running sneakers. They have been thru the worst possible terrian you can imagine in the East Coast. Training for the Northface 50 miler at Bear Mountain I few months back, I logged a average of 120miles of trainning miles a week using these 90% of the times and still have about 200miles of trail running left. I only noiced some slight wear on the corners. (I have a slight inner pronation on my stride).

These sneakers dont offer full water protection but is well protected from the water when runnig thru a small puddle or low level river. (notice the black mesh, the only part of the tongue that water can enter.

The sneaker still kinda looks "new" thanks to the gray color which like a silver car, hides dirt well.

Pros: Great Traction, Very durable, Great cushion Gel system (heal), so good for a while I was using them for my 50K road races), No change of feeling when going from trail to road.

Cons: Not much toe protection (When you've been running for 12hours, not much energy to lift your feet, so baging your toes happens alot), mini rocks and pebbles do get stuck in the tread of the sneakers.

On that note, The new asics GEL-Trail Attack® 6 WR are out and will have a review once I get them.
